TECHNICAL SUPPORT GROUP is currently recruiting for TELECOMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGISTS for an opportunity to work in Calgary.
Job Description:
- Laying out and drawing electrical schematics, block diagrams, component and circuit layouts to assist the telecommunications engineers and technicians in complying with revisions and periodic maintenance on two-way, land, mobile radios and microwave communications equipment
- Communicating orally with Department employees and other government agency personnel to obtain and disseminate information and resolve discrepancies related to work assignment
- Recording and updating information concerning remote site communication towers, documents antenna locations (height and direction), and identifying two-way radio communication antennas and microwave dishes, used in nationwide communication systems
- Designing, drawing and updating maps and system flow charts
- Distributing updated written materials (e.g. documentation, books, manuals, etc.) to Telecommunications Section staff
- Conducting surveys to establish plot plans
- Designing, drawing, and submitting architectural plans and proposals to obtain approval to develop or alter new or existing telecommunications sites, towers or buildings in order to accommodate additional antennas and radios
- Interpreting blueprints and schematics to determine material needs and establish a schedule for accomplishing tasks
- Providing drafting assistance and information
- Performing detailed work with a high degree of accuracy; applying drafting standards and procedures
- Analyzing information and drawing valid conclusions
- Gathering technical information and writing communications
- Creating plans that meet the company’s standards using sketches made by engineers and technicians
- Reading and reproducing plans using Microstation
- Producing as-built drawings on jobsites from time to time
Job Requirements:
- Vocational diploma in drafting
- Minimum 2 years of experience with computer-aided drafting
- Excellent knowledge of Microstation
- Experience using CableCAD and AutoCad considered an asset
- Experience in designing outdoor networks considered an asset
