TECHNICAL SUPPORT GROUP is currently recruiting a SENIOR PROJECT ENGINEER for an opportunity to work in a plant environment.
Job Responsibilities:
- Managing project development and project execution through to start-up. Applying knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to project activities to meet or exceed stakeholder needs and expectations
- Ensuring successful completion of projects according to defined and agreed-upon objectives
- Making independent decisions on work methods and procedures within an overall program or project
- Preparing budgets, schedules and resource allocation plans for multi-discipline projects involving considerable capital and manpower resources
- Managing and controlling projects to ensure that objectives are met in an economical and timely manner and that attention is given to the development and maintenance of standards, procedures and quality control
- Initial development of projects to ensure they are correctly identified for the five-year capital plan
- Leading, coaching and developing multidiscipline project team members to ensure they are focused on projects, corporate and departmental objectives
- Setting goals and clearly communicate the roles and responsibilities of each team member to ensure the results and objectives are achieved
- Continually search for improvements, and encourages innovated designs
- Developing standard practices and procedures related to Management of Projects
- Developing and maintain technical networks inside and outside the company
- Providing technical advice in area of specialization
- Ensuring compliance to all government and corporate regulations in the area of safety, health and environment for all capital projects
- Identifying and reporting all safety concerns
- Taking corrective actions for any safety hazard for themselves or others
- Understanding and following site, company, and governmental policies or standards
- Authenticating documents according to APEGGA guidelines
- Leading unit / business initiatives
- Providing and supporting cross-functional communications
- Communicating priorities within unit
- Providing and communicating continuous improvement ideas
Job Requirements:
- Civil or Mechanical Engineering degree with 10 – 15 years experience.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer or EIT in any province in Canada.
- Engineering, maintenance, project, and/or operations experience at an operating chemical facility, oil/gas refinery, metallurgical plant, pulp and paper plant, or a heavy industrial site is considered an asset.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills applying an understanding and knowledge of the overall operation of the production units.
- Preparing budgets, schedules and resource allocation plans for multi-discipline resources, incorporating best practices in cost control, risk analysis and schedule stewardship.
- Managing and controlling projects to ensure that objectives are met in an economical and timely manner and ensuring that applicable standards, procedures and quality control requirements are either developed or met as required.
- Some project liaison and interdisciplinary coordination will be required.
