TECHNICAL SUPPORT GROUP is currently recruiting a PROCUREMENT SPECIALIST for an Alberta opportunity to work in a plant environment.
Job Description:
- Providing procurement support for capital projects of various sizes ($50K to $10MM). This includes all aspects of procurement throughout the project cycle: developmental support, procurement strategy development/implementation, contracting, expediting, and project closeout.
- Qualifying bidder lists, developing evaluation criteria, issuing formal bid documents, coordinating, analyzing, recommending, awarding and implementing tenders for large complex projects.
- Negotiating and implementing site contracts for critical operation applications, including single/sole source contracts.
- Possess an in-depth knowledge of purchasing and contracting practices, procedures and principles by understanding how work is done within the organization and uses that knowledge to expedite approvals and decisions, and maximize value while minimizing risk.
- Managing a high level of service standards to meet customer requirements by ensuring all purchasing procedures are performed as per the site and corporate Supply Management Best Practices.
- Working closely with customers from multi-levels of the organization to define, understand and meet complex and sensitive customer requirements for contracting and project procurement.
- Exhibit professional responsibility by recommending and initiating changes in contracting and project procurement processes, and follows through for acceptance, implementation and reporting of benefits achieved.
- Undertaking special projects for which there are no precedents, and independently exercise appropriate judgment.
- Managing and developing vendors by establishing professional relationships, including partnerships with key suppliers and by managing customer/supplier interfaces through regular contact. In addition, evaluate and develop alternative sources of supply to ensure that our vendor base is kept dynamic and current based on changes in the marketplace.
- Understanding roles and functions of internal resource groups including accounting, legal environmental, OH&S, etc. and has a network of contacts to efficiently process information.
Job Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience in the Materials Management field in an industrial setting
- Experience in SAP purchasing and Materials Management module
- Demonstrated experience working with both internal and external clients at varying organizational levels.
- Experience working within large and complex projects for an owner is preferred
- Maintenance, project, and/or operations experience at an operating facility or a heavy industrial site is an asset
- A proven appreciation for and demonstrated capabilities in the application of advanced methods of data collection, data analysis, and procurement reporting
- Excellent communication and analytical skills
