TSG STAFFING SERVICES is currently recruiting for a MECHANICAL ENGINEER (ROTATING EQUIPMENT) for an Edmonton area-based opportunity to work in an operating plant environment.
Job Description:
- Management of Change (MOC) technical reviews for rotating equipment
- Develop & review asset care plans for rotating equipment, identify bad actors, and facilitate root cause failure analysis
- Develop repair and inspection work scopes, recommend overhaul and PM intervals
- Develop, and execute repair/fabrication/inspection procedures and QA/QC specifications
- Diagnose machinery health issues using vibration analysis, tribology, thermography, and an in-depth knowledge of rotating equipment; create and present reports
- Provide guidance and make recommendations regarding site equipment lubrication program
- Provide technical reference information and specifications for Capital and Maintenance Project development
- Review of Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) strategy of rotating assets
- Lead Rotating Equipment Maintenance Pod by coordinating and facilitating meetings
- Facilitate and/or act a Subject Matter Expert for Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
- Oversight or Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) for rotating equipment purchase and overhaul
- Review and recommend condition monitoring strategy for each piece of rotating equipment by referencing the asset criticality, current asset condition, industry and standards to ensure safe and reliable operation of equipment
- Contribute to plant turnaround planning
- Participate in internal and external audit as required
- Develop inspections and overhaul strategy
- End of Life and Major Overhaul Assessment
- Preparing or interpreting designs, plots, plans, bills, costs and calculations of material in accordance with established codes, standards, drawings, calculation procedures or other specifications
- Assisting more senior staff in planning and executing assigned projects and in troubleshooting, equipment design, and selecting and commissioning new equipment
- Liasing with construction, maintenance, inspection and operations groups
Job Requirements:
- At Minimum, an undergraduate Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Registered Professional Engineer with APEGA, or is eligible for registration
- 5+ years of industrial experience
- Experience working with rotating equipment (pumps, turbines, blowers, conveyors) and certain knowledge of API 610
- Experience with API 610 pumps, slurry pumps and extraction experience is an asset
- Understanding and applying engineering principals, concepts and procedures to assigned engineering projects
- Operating and designing tools to carry out assigned projects
- Familiar with standard software packages and prepare calculations and designs
- Excellent verbal and written communicates skills
