Instrumentation Designer (Junior)

TSG STAFFING SERVICES is currently recruiting for a JUNIOR INSTRUMENTATION DESIGNER for an Edmonton area-based opportunity to work in an operating plant environment.

Job Description:

• Assist in maintaining and updating project instrumentation wiring and instrument data sheets.
• Support the design of instrumentation loops with guidance from senior engineers or technologists.
• Help develop documentation and details for projects from development through to project closeout.
• Ensure compliance with project and site specifications, contract requirements, policies, and codes.
• Assist in preparing instrumentation loop diagrams, as-builts, IJBs, and IPLs.
• Support project activities including cost estimation, documentation, and scheduling.
• Contribute to development of Construction Work Packages under supervision.
• Participate in field reviews and assist planners by providing design-related input and observations.
• Assist with project updates, vendor communications, and reporting on instrumentation work.
• Support detailed instrumentation design, including basic interfacing to PLCs and DCS systems.

Job Requirements:

• Instrumentation Engineering Technologist Diploma or relevant Engineering Degree.
• 2+ years of experience in industrial instrumentation design, including some exposure to field design or project work.
• Familiarity with Management of Change (MOC) is an asset.
• Registration with ASET (CET or P.Tech.) is an asset.
• Basic technical knowledge of instrumentation devices, components, and applications.
• Exposure to INtools or similar design software is an asset.
• Experience with SAP or other project management systems is a plus.
• Competent computer skills (Microsoft Office).
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a willingness to learn and grow under supervision.
